The unseen treasure in the Western corner of the country, the paradise with scenic beauty of rolling hills, valleys, plains of Acacia savannah, the central basin dissected by seasonal rivers filling the scattered lakes and swamps all blow your visit to this undiscovered park. The park covers an area of 200km2.

There are two rainy seasons in a year, short rainy period is from October to November and the wet season is from March to May with annual average rainfall ranging from …… to …..mm. The park is located at an altitude between …… and …….. meters.
Getting there
The park is accessible by road and air
Road.The Park can be reached by road from Bukoba to Murongo (220km) or from Chato to Murongo (327km) and also from Uganda via Murongo town which is about 3.5km from the Park.
Air. The park can be accessed by scheduled flight via Chato or Kigoma Airports

The Park is exceptional gifted with a variety of attractions ranging from savannah, lakes, rivers and swamps inhabited with different kinds wildlife.
Wild animals
The park is endowed with various wild animals such as African Buffalo, Hippos, Leopards, Antelopes like reed buck and roan and birds.

Kagera River
This is one of the largest rivers in Tanzania which act as a boundary with Rwanda. The river separates the two nations and also the two national parks; the Ibanda-kyerwa National park in Tanzania and Akagera National Park in Rwanda. Also to the north the rivers is a boundary with Uganda and this makes easy to visit even from Uganda and Rwanda.

Ibanda Kyerwa National Park full Itinerary
- Day 1: Moshi – Mwanza or Bukoba (Travel Day)
- Depart early from Moshi and begin a long journey toward the Lake Victoria region.
- Travel route options:
- Moshi – Mwanza by bus (approximately 12–14 hours)
- Moshi – Bukoba via connecting buses or flight (faster but more expensive)
- Arrive in the evening and check in at a hotel
- Rest and prepare for the long transfer to the park region
- Overnight: Mwanza or Bukoba
Day 2: Mwanza/Bukoba – Kyerwa Area
After breakfast, continue the journey toward Kyerwa district.
- Drive through rural landscapes, farms, and villages
- Arrive in Kyerwa in the afternoon
- Check in at lodge or campsite near the park boundary
- Brief relaxation and trip briefing with guide
Overnight: Kyerwa area lodge or campsite
Day 3: First Game Drive – Ibanda Kyerwa National Park
Early morning entry into Ibanda Kyerwa National Park.
Activities:
- Morning game drive in savannah and riverine areas
- Wildlife viewing including elephants, buffalo, antelopes, warthogs, and birds
- Picnic lunch inside or near the park
- Afternoon game drive exploring different sections of the park
- Return to lodge in the evening

Day 4: Full Day Exploration of the Park

- Early morning game drive
- Bird watching along Kagera River ecosystem

Day 6: Return Journey to Moshi
After breakfast, begin the return journey.
- Drive from Kyerwa to Bukoba or Mwanza
- Continue travel back to Moshi
- Arrival in the evening or next day depending on route
